DoFollow doesn’t technically exist, instead, it is the absence of the rel=”nofollow” attribute in a link. The attribute tells search engines not to follow the link to the website. Therefore the link will not increase the backlink count of the website.

By default WordPress blogs add the nofollow attribute to links in the website field of comments. DoFollow blogs are going against the norm and removing the attribute, enabling search engines to follow outgoing links in comments. The attribute is removed from blogs by installing a plugin or editing the PHP code that adds it.

Bloggers who decide to make their blogs DoFollow blogs do so to encourage people to comment by giving them outgoing links to the websites that Google and other search engines will count as backlinks.
